BIOS on the instructors

Phoenix approaches dance from a spiritual and artistic direction. Her fluid performance is a fusion of various belly dance styles. Her performance is most often improvisational and is always from the heart. Phoenix is a member of the professional troupe - the Sultry Emberz- and the band Yallah!. She shares this dance with many by sponsoring haflas and teaches this form of self-expression & creativity. Phoenix is excited to bring her creative techniques and Khaliji dance to her native home - Wilmington, NC.

Joynan, star of the cable TV and video series "the Art of Belly Dancing with Joynan", has taught and performed throughout the US and overseas for over 25 years. Her attention to detail and technique and her classy style make for an elegant effect. She is a patient teacher, and breaks down movements in a variety of ways. Her breathtaking double veil routine is without equal. Her hip articulation is clean and concise and she inspires her students to develop their own style. Joynan is a complete artist.

A note from Phoenix:

Joynan and I are very excited to connect with NC dancers and have the opportunity to see the talented artists in the area. For me, it will be more than a day of workshops and performance - having the opportunity to unite with dancers in my home town will be very special. We look forward to meeting you!
